Dance A-level
Units 5 & 6 A2
Unit 5 (performance) and Unit 6 (production) is a chance to develop the performance skills learnt at AS level. Most students choose to continue with their dance and choreography training, developing another performance piece that is performed to a public audience. In this unit students take responsibility for their own piece of choreography, choosing the dancers they wish to work with and choosing their own stimulus or theme. Alternatively students can choose to develop the production or administration skills they learnt in Unit 2. In the past WMSF students have developed lighting designs or costume designs for the performances and a couple of students have taken the role of company manager, developing a marketing campaign for the performances and running an effective front of house and box office.
How am I marked? Most of the marks are for the development of performance skills that will be recorded through a log and will be apparent in the final performance. There are some marks for evaluation of the performance and the process.
