Examination results 2009

Ever since we opened in 1994, our examination results have been excellent. Each year the hard work of students and teachers is rewarded with high levels of attainment in public examinations.

As a comprehensive 16-19 school we admit students with a wide range of previous qualifications and encourage each individual to progress to higher levels.

We are proud that students across all our courses at levels 1, 2 and 3 do well. We celebrate with equal delight the success of the student who achieves top A level grades and progresses to a prestigious university as we do the success of a student coming to us with poor GCSE results who has made a successful fresh start and gained confidence and a positive attitude to learning.

Our results are often better than national pass rates, and in some cases significantly so. Our value-added scores, which measure the distance students have travelled in their learning, are amongst the best in the country. We publish detailed information on
our results both here and in an annual 'Results and Destinations' leaflet, available at our Open Events, and on request.

The 15 institutions above represent the most similar institutions to WMSF (sixth-form colleges and sixth-form schools) across all of the 32 London boroughs. Scores above 1,000 represent schools where students on average made more progress than similar students nationally, while scores below 1,000 represent schools where students made less progress. The CVA scores pre-16 take into account factors known to affect children's attainment but which are outside a school's control - such as poverty and ethnicity. The CVA score post-16 includes these factors plus actual attainment at GCSE.

NB. A score of 30 points on the CVA scale is equivalent to one grade at A level (this should not be confused with the 20 points per grade on the UCAS tariff).
