Bursaries/FCM (Free College Meals)

Financial Support

William Morris Sixth Form recognises that financial disadvantage can be a significant barrier to learning. We therefore encourage students to apply for the available financial support they are eligible for so they can access every learning opportunity in order to achieve their full potential.

The following financial support is available to our sixth form students:

Free College Meals

Students who are eligible for Free School Meals are required to reapply via the borough they reside in when they join the sixth form.

Non-Discretionary Bursary

Non-discretionary bursary is paid to students who meet one or more of the following eligibility criteria:

  • They are a young person in care or a care leaver
  • They are on Income Support (IS) or Universal Credit (UC) because they are financially supporting themselves and someone who is dependent on them and living with them such as a child or partner.
  • They receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payments (PIP) in their own right as well as Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or UC in their own right.

Discretionary Bursary

Discretionary bursary is paid to students who are eligible for free school meals (FCM) and/or have family incomes below the London National Living Wage.

Important

Bursaries can only be used for college-related expenses, such as travel and study materials.

In-Kind Support

Some funds are kept centrally by the Finance Office to support the payment of one-off costs for students in financial hardship, authorised by the Senior Tutors or Student Services.

Chromebooks

Students who are eligible for FCM or the bursary will be loaned a Chromebook for the duration of their time at WMSF.
